High-ranking Nazi cabinet ministers gave speeches at public gatherings at the Lustgarten, the public park next to the cathedral in downtown Berlin. There were Hitler Youth rallies with Baldur von Schirach as well, and the festivities culminated at Tempelhof Field the night of 1 May 1933. The crowd was reported to have been over 1 million, all came to listen to Adolf Hitler’s speech!
The text of speeches by Dr. Joseph Goebbels, Reichsminister Hermann Göring, Adolf Hitler and even President Paul von Hindenburg are printed in the back of Der erste deutsche Mai.
The main portion of this 6-5/8 x 10 inch, 64-page softcover photo publication shows pictures of German workers with Nazi swastika flags, Hitler Youth boys, the son of Dr. Goebbels’s wife Magda (in his HJ uniform) presenting flowers to President von Hindenburg, Hitler and Hindenburg in an open Mercedes, Hitler, Minister of the Interior Dr. Wilhelm Frick, State Secretary Dr. Otto Meissner, Dr. Goebbels and General Werner von Blomberg, Hitler speaking at the Lustgarten Labor Day event, SA men and Ernst Röhm, SS men enjoying Labor Day festivities, and laborers preparing speakers, spot lights, radio cables and the stage for the main event, the Hitler speech on Tempelhof Field. The pictures of the fireworks and Hitler speech during the evening event are spectacular!
