Adolf Hitler called Hitler-Jugend Heime or Hitler Youth Homes "educational facilities of a generation, meant to secure the future of the German Reich". This rare Third Reich book Schafft Heime für die Hitlerjugend (Build Homes for the Hitler Youth) shows just how serious the Nazi Party was about the future generation of young people in Nazi Germany and the future of the German Nation.
Published by the Reichsjugendführung Befehlsstelle Südost in Vienna (the second largest city of Hitler's Greater German Reich), Schafft Heime für die Hitlerjugend explains the need to build new Hitler Youth facilities in Austria after its reunification with Nazi Germany. There is text by Hitler Youth Leader Baldur von Schirach, Reichsminister Dr. Frick, and the Reichskommissar für die Wiedervereinigung Österreichs mit dem deutschen Reich (Commissar for the Reunification of Austria and the German State), Gauleiter Josef Bürckel. They all agreed that educating German youth should be done in proper, high-quality, built to last facilities, thereby instilling in young German boys and girls the importance of the German state, and their responsibility for its future. Hitler had a great interest in these Hitler-Jugend Heime, especially the smaller ones.
This rare 8-¼ x 11-5/8 inch, 56-page softcover photo publication starts out with a photo taken in the Reichschancellery in Berlin, showing Adolf Hitler, Reichsjugendführer Baldur von Schirach and Professor Albert Speer looking at an architectural model of a Hitler Youth Home.
There are many rare photos of the exterior of newly built HJ Homes, huge Nazi eagle and swastika carvings, interior wall decorations, public rooms and offices for HJ Leaders, furniture, as well as architectural drawings, layouts and outlines for HJ homes and sport facilities planned in different Gaue. There are examples of building contracts for Hitler Youth Homes, and even a photo of the rare HJ-Heim Plakette, the commemorative cased medal designed by Hitler Youth Leader von Schirach to be awarded to people who performed exemplary services connected to Hitler-Jugend Heime, and a photo of a blank award certificate!
This rare Third Reich book was assembled by Stammführer Lettow, and Oberbannführer Heitmüller of Reichsjugendführung Befehlsstelle Südost had the overall responsibility for Schafft Heime für die Hitlerjugend. The book is undated but dates to about 1939. It is in very good used condition, no odor. We have never seen another example!
