This rare First Edition of Das Dritte Reich im Spiegel der Weltpresse was published by Armanen-Verlag in Leipzig in 1934 and it is in very nice original condition, with a tight spine and no odor. The spine and edges of the original 90 year old dust jacket show wear, of course.
On the front flyleaf there is a red stamp with the name of a company in Berlin-Grunewald. This book was part of their library so a library number is written on the front fly leaf and there is also a small label with the same library number on the spine.

The 6-1/4 x 9-1/8 inch softcover book has 174 glossy pages with chapters about propaganda, propaganda tools, press freedom and public responsibility, the alleged dominance of Jews in the international press, anti-German propaganda, war mongers and armament fanatics, and the last chapter is titled “Victory of the Truth”. The text is extremely anti-Jewish in tone.
This rare 90 year old, very anti-Semitic Nazi book still has its original dust jacket which has examples of anti-German agitation in the foreign press on the front.

The author of Das Dritte Reich im Spiegel der Weltpresse, Dr. Karl Bömer, was the Head of the Press Department of the Foreign Policy Office of the NSDAP and press advisor for Reichsleiter Alfred Rosenberg. In 1938, Dr. Bömer became the head of the Foreign Department for Journalism in Dr. Joseph Goebbels’ Ministry of Volksaufklärung und Propaganda (National Enlightenment and Publicity).

Interspersed in the text are many images of anti-German and anti-Hitler headlines from newspapers in France, Holland, England, Sweden, Poland and the Soviet Union. There are poorly doctored-up foreign images which are said to reflect anti-German bias, and dozens and dozens of political caricatures and cartoons, very unflattering foreign “interpretations” of Nazis, Hitler and the “New Germany.”
