Office of Racial Research of the NSDAP, Wien

During the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler a certificate providing proof of Aryan blood was required of any citizen who wished to exercise his or her civil rights, join a Nazi paramilitary organization (like the SS, NSFK or NSKK) or join the Nazi Party. Naturally, those certificates are now extremely hard to find and highly sought after by collectors.

This 80+ year old document is absolutely original to the Third Reich period and was folded though the middle, exactly as shown.

This Abstammungsnachweis or Ancestry Certificate (number 5151 dated 17 May 1939) is from the Office of Racial Research of the Nazi Party in Gau Wien (Vienna, the second largest city in Hitler's Greater Germany) and bears their eagle and swastika seal. It is in the name of a Roman Catholic young man named Franz Johann Pasch, born in Wien on 2 July 1923.

It certifies that 15 year old Pasch is “deutschblütig (arisch)” or of pure, Aryan German blood (words underlined in blue ink) AND certifies that he is NOT of Jewish or mixed Jewish ancestry (words struck through in black ink).

The 8-1/4 x 11-3/4 inch certificate is complete on the front side with a signature (Unterschrift) and the red seal (Amtssiegel) of the Office of Racial Research of the NSDAP.

The back side of the document shows the ancestry of Pasch’s father, mother and grandparents going as far back as 1860!
