With the construction of the Reichsautobahn of Adolf Hitler under the direction of Dr. Ing. Fritz Todt during the 1930s, the foreign and domestic travel industries in Germany flourished. The big 10 x 14 inch monthly travel, traffic and scenery magazine Deutschland (Germany, Allemagne) circulated in the professional travel and hospitality industries.
Each heavily illustrated issue had a gorgeous full-color cover and was absolutely stuffed with in-depth photo feature articles on German travel destinations and German events and celebrations. Naturally, each issue also contained splendid ads from companies with a product or service to sell to those involved in travel within Germany.
The September 1937 French, English and Spanish language issue features a striking watercolor by Robert Zinner of the Haupttribune with its huge swastika at the Nazi Party Day Grounds on the front cover. The main article is about “The New Nürnberg” - its architecture on the revamped Reichsparteitaggelände or Nazi Party Day Grounds and plans for the enormous Congress Building. Other articles cover Königsberg and Immanuel Kant, the Kurische Nehrung peninsula and its people in East Prussia, a look inside the House of German Art in Munich, the culture of Tirolean immigrants in Silesea, the city of Trier, and spas and health resorts in Germany.
ALLEMAGNE SEPTEMBER 1937
This rare original 85 year old Nazi travel / tourist industry magazine in three languages is a bit brittle, but it is complete and it has no offensive odor.
This heavily illustrated magazine has advertising by Siemens, decorative Deutsche Reichspost telegrams, accommodations during the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, the Berlin Opera House, the Horticulture Show in Dresden, Sonthofen in the Allgäu, Bad Tölz and other tourist resorts and attractions.
The 86 year old magazine is complete and in nice used condition, no odor.
GERMANY APRIL 1936
Articles in the 28-page magazine are about tourism in the North and East Frisean provinces on the North Sea coast, cruising on the Weser river from Fulda to Bremerhaven and the North Sea, the Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel, old houses in Lower Saxony, the city of Ulm and glimpses in the life of Bavarian King Ludwig II with pictures of the inside of Herrenchiemsee castle and Neuschwanstein.
This 28-page September 1937 issue of Allemagne is complete with the frequently missing Heinrich Knirr portrait of Adolf Hitler, and even has a photo of the German Tourist Office (RDV) in San Francisco. It contains advertising by Dresdner Bank, fall cures at health resorts and spas in Wiesbaden, Bad Harzburg, the Berchtesgaden area, Schlesien and other towns and areas.
The April 1936 English language issue features art of Helgoland by E. Neuhaus on the front cover and Richard Wagner on the back cover, advertising the Bayreuth Festival.
