This is an extremely well-made Third Reich period cast metal bust of Germany’s 23rd chancellor and Nazi Führer, Adolf Hitler.

We purchased it decades ago from an antique dealer in Germany who did not want to be caught with a Hitler bust but on the other hand knew it was valuable and wanted as much as she could get for it!

On the back of the neck below the hairline is the name of the artist who made the original, K. Schoppmann.

The bust is about half life-size at 5-1/8 inches (130 mm) tall and is a very realistic likeness of Hitler in three dimensions, retaining around 80% of its original translucent brown tint over gold on the base metal, giving it the appearance of bronze.

As you can see in our excellent photos, the bust has some surface damage to the artistic bronze FINISH (but not to the base metal itself) on the silver colored base metal that likely came from exposure to heat and/or water at the end of the war. It could easily be touched up or “conserved or restored” as they like to say on Antiques Roadshow. It could also be left just as it is as a superb relic of the Third Reich and the greatest conflict the world has ever known. This is the kind of Hitler bust that would have been very popular in Nazi homes or as a substantially better than average desk ornament during the Third Reich.

We think there are more fake Hitler busts in circulation today than there ever were in Germany during the Third Reich. It is nice to be able to assure all potential buyers that this one is genuine and absolutely authentic to the Third Reich in Germany, and NOT a replica or fake of any kind. Condition exactly as shown and reasonably priced for the historic mid-20th century relic it is.

The casting is quite thick so the piece is very heavy for its size at 28 ounces (790 grams), and it has a threaded hole and stud in a crosspiece built into the bottom of the neck. The threaded hole will take a metric screw, probably 4 mm in diameter. It may have originally been attached to a simple stone plinth or mounted next to a clock on a larger base as shown below in the picture with catalog advertising taken from our archive.
