The 4-1/2 x 7 inch, 348-page Krupp Wörterbuch Deutsch - Englisch - Französisch Teil II (Part 2) covers things like railway artillery, automatic weapons (machine gun cannons, anti-tank rifles, anti-aircraft guns, aerial guns, etc.), armored fighting vehicles, internal and external ballistics, optics, observation instruments and sights, range finders, ammeters and voltmeters, electric motors, generators and dynamos, listening apparatus, search lights, tools and field equipment, ordnance gauges, ammunition containers, etc.
This is a very rare German World War II technical publication originating at the Krupp Steel Works, a company that supported Hitler and the Nazi Movement in Germany from the early days on, and became one of the most
prominent Third Reich manufacturers of heavy duty steel products like an array of weapons, U-Boote and other Nazi Kriegmarine ships, as well as very high-quality silverware for the Nazi Party, the German government, the SS and Wehrmacht.
The company name was even used by Hitler in the now well-known quote: “a young German must be as swift as a greyhound, as tough as leather, and as hard as Krupp steel" (Flink wie die Windhunde, Zaeh wie Leder, Hart wie Kruppstahl)!
This is a very, very rare Krupp Steel Works technical dictionary in German, English and French for among other things railway artillery, automatic weapons, military armored vehicles, ballistics, specialty equipment
(Eisenbahnartillerie, Maschinenwaffen, Panzerkampfwagen, Ballistik, Sondergeräte, u.a.). Krupp Wörterbuch Deutsch - Französisch - Englisch was published in 1942 by Friedrich Krupp Aktiengesellschaft of Essen and was intended for use by officers and engineers . In the foreword it says that this book is a continuation of
Teil I (
Part 1 dated 1938) and that it was made possible with contributions by the companies Siemens & Halske of Berlin, Carl Zeiß of Jena and Elektroacustik of Kiel.
There are technical terms for tripods, gun mountings and clips, flak gun parts, transmission parts, binocular accessories, screws, cleaning rods, levers, azimuth disks, gyroscopic compass parts, parachute flares, etc.
This 1942 Krupp technical dictionary is beautifully illustrated with line drawings, not hard to define black & white halftone pictures. The listings are from A to Z and are also indexed by language, making this a very handy World War II technical dictionary.
The blue linen cover and spine of this 82 year old three-language Krupp Wörterbuch have gold blocking. The wear and fading to the covers is clearly visible in our cover photo above, but the book is complete, has a tight spine and no odor. Inside the front cover is the name of a previous owner, Alexander E. Kramer who worked at the Pentagon in Washington DC!
