THREE SPLENDID 1939 NAZI DRIVING LICENSE EXAMINATION
TRAFFIC RULES BOOK

As it still is today, getting a driving license in Third Reich Germany was a relatively expensive proposition involving a good deal of study, classroom work and behind the wheel practice with an instructor. This lot of three heavily illustrated traffic books were published in 1939 by Richard Carl Schmidt & Co. of Berlin and were designed to prepare future drivers for their examination for a driving license.
The many multi-color pictures are particularly well-done and are perfectly oriented to make the text of the book more understandable. There are copious explanations of everything from the Dienststempel or identification marks stamped by the police on automotive license plates or Kennzeichen, the law as it pertains to towed trailers, the distance from the ground of front and rear lights on cars and motorcycles, turn signals, rear view mirrors, reading the data plate on any vehicle, national oval identification stickers, police hand signals, street signs of all sorts - from parking signs to town signs and highway numbers, when to use a horn and when not to use it, when a driver must yield to the marching troops, regulations for the Reichsautobahn and signs for the Reichsautobahn, what to do if you hit an animal, what happens if you must go to court, special regulations for drivers of trucks, busses, tractors, and tracked vehicles, etc, etc.
The three 4-¼ x 6-½ inch softcover publications are:
|
Verkehrsregeln (Traffic Rules) with 76 pages
Verkehrsbilder (Traffic Situations) with 58 pages
Kraftfahrzeug und Fahrtechnik (Automobile and Driving Methods) with 72 pages. |
All three were sold to people taking driving lessons from Driving School H & K Walther of Berlin. All three have advertising for other books published by Richard Carl Schmidt & Co. in the back. All three are in very good little-used condition, no odor.
This lot of three 1939 Nazi driving school manuals is offered for sale
for $99.00 delivered by Media Mail in the continental USA.
