This is a very sculpted and well-made flag pole top that is absolutely authentic to the german Third Reich which we purchased from an antique dealer in Germany about 25 years ago. The dealer either really did not know where it came from or was unwilling to get into that conversation, but we suspect it was once used by the Kriegsmarine or Navy as there is a lot of grey-green paint (80%) on the front side. There is also a good possibility that that paint was once Wehrmacht green in color.

There is less green paint on the back side and whatever it was attached to appears to have been painted a rusty red color before the eagle was removed from whatever was being painted that color. The threaded stud, the two washers and the brass nut were on it when we bought it in Germany.

The eagle weighs about 470 grams (1 pound) and is 28 cm (11 inches) wide by 21 cm (8-¼ inches tall) including the nut on the bottom. Obviously, somebody de-Nazified the piece at one time, probably while it was still in service, by punching out the swastika that was once in the middle of the wreath below the eagle. It is easy to see upon close examination that this swastika was about 1/8 inch thick and about 1-¾ inches square. It would be a relatively easy matter to replace it. Similar, but less artistic flag pole tops are routinely offered in the range of $795 to $1000 on the internet if they have not been de-Nazified.

Condition exactly as shown in our excellent photographs. Would display wonderfully as-is, and it is real, not a cheap post-war copy! Sorry, no shipping outside the USA.
