This is among the nicest pieces of tourist information for Nazi era Munich. It is a 7-3/4 x 8-1/4 inch, 20 page well-illustrated duotone softcover guide to München, Hauptstadt der Bewegung (Munich - Capital of the Nazi Movement).
The booklet was published by the Landesfremdenverkehrsverband München und Südbayern eV (State Visitor Traffic Registered Association for Munich and Southern Bavaria) for distribution in 1938 and 1939.
Inside the front cover is a quotation from
Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler in which he mentions how impressed he was the first time he visited this remarkable German city. It continues with nicely captioned duotone photos, one to a page, of the major sights in Munich. The first is of a SS guard on watch at a Nazi Honor Temple on the
Königsplatz, followed by the Königsplatz, the NSDAP
Braunes Haus, the
Feldherrnhalle and its martyr monument, the Army Museum, exterior and interior photos of the House of German Art, the
Deutsches Museum,
Riem Horse Race Track, etc., etc.

Shown right is the back page which is entirely devoted to sights related to the NSDAP in the Capital of the Nazi Movement, all the interesting historical stuff Rick Steves left out of his Munich guidebook. However, we found that passengers on our military history tours of Europe in the 1980s and 1990s were always extremely interested in seeing sights like the house in which Hitler lived before his WWI service, the site of the first and second Nazi Party offices, the office of the Gauleitung of Munich, the Adolf Hitler Kaserne, the Bürgerbräukeller, etc.
This original 85 year old Nazi tourist brochure shows honest wear as the original owner folded it through the middle as intended. However it is complete and in nice used condition with small tear to the right of the Munich coat of arms on the front cover. No writing, no odor.
