This is a third expanded edition of Fernaufklärer im Großeinsatz (Reconnaissance in Large Scale Operations) by Alwin Mortzfeld, a retired Officer of a Reconnaissance Squadron. The book contains a foreword by Mortzfeld dated “War Year 1941” and has many special seldom-seen photos and fine pen & ink illustrations by retired Uffz. Georg Kröber.

After a brief introduction by Nazi Air Force General Rudolf Bogatsch (General der Luftwaffe beim Oberbefehlshaber des Heeres), the book has a very competent text about reconnaissance men in airplanes, in infantry, artillery, motorized units and engineer outfits.

Photos show Wehrmacht reconnaissance troops in action in Poland, on the western front, in the Balkans (none of the locations are specifically named however because of the war still going on!), re-using undamaged tin British field barracks in the west, camouflaged equipment, reconnaissance airplanes and their pilots, medal ceremonies in the field, generals inspecting reconnaissance troops, blown up and battle damaged bridges, radio equipment, vehicles, attractive young gypsy women in the Balkans, a Wehrmacht field kitchen feeding small children, German soldier graves, etc.

This 5-¾ x 8 inch, hardcover book with 232 heavily illustrated pages was published by Verlag Erich Klinghammer of Berlin. It is a Second Edition in nice used condition. Name of previous owner inside the front cover. No odor.
