This is a rare original 4-1/8 x 6-1/8 inch, 130 page hardcover Grieben Reiseführer or travel guidebook for Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Zugspitze und Mittenwald dated 1937. This is the 11th Edition with 7 maps and 10 photos and illustrations. It covers the area in southern Bavaria mentioned in the title as well as the Mad Ludwig royal palaces near Füssen, the route to Innsbrück and has a special winter sports appendix.
This Nazi guidebook starts with a map of Germany showing the location of Garmisch-Partenkirchen where the 1936 Winter Olympics were held, and the routes to get to the area. Other maps show the mountains and peaks around Garmisch-Partenkirchen, highways and alpine passes near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the area between Munich and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and city maps of downtown Innsbruck and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Chapters include information on the geography of the area, animal and plant life, population, the tourist industry, etc. Then of course, practical details about traffic, hotels, spas, crossing alpine passes, cablecars, winter and summer sport possibilities, etc.. There are hiking trip suggestions, scenic alpine drives, etc. There are photos of the Zugspitze, Garmisch-Partenkirchen in spring, Schloss Linderhof, the public swimming pool at Oberammergau, and others.
This 1937 Grieben Reiseführer Band 165 for Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Zugspitze and Mittenwald is complete and in good used condition and even the original 85 year old Kartensucher, a little pull-out ruler to help read the maps, is still there.
This is an original 4 x 6 inch, 208 page softcover Grieben Reiseführer or travel guidebook for the Dolomiten, the Dolomite Mountains in northern Italy straight south of Munich and Innsbruck in Nazi Germany. This is the 5th Edition from 1939 with 87 maps and 18 photos and illustrations. It covers the area south of the Brenner Pass and has a special section with information for people traveling by car.
Inside the front cover is a big 11 x 13-½ inch color map of the area from Munich to Venice. Inside the back cover is a 14 x 15 inch color fold-out map with Brixen (Bressanone in Süd Tirol) in the north , Bolzano in the west, Belluno in the east and to Trient and Vittorio in the Veneto in the south. It includes the famous Italian ski resorts of Cortina d'Ampezzo and Castelrotto.

This 1939 Grieben Reiseführer Band 136 for the Dolomites is complete and in very good used condition and the original 83 year old Kartensucher, a little pull-out ruler to help read the maps, is still there.
