As most collectors are aware, the Nazi Party held its annual gathering in late summer each year in the city of Nürnberg. Called Reichsparteitage or National Party Days, the annual pageant paraded everything the NSDAP had to offer including Adolf Hitler himself, the high leadership of the Nazi Party and all paramilitary formations such as the SS, SA, HJ (Hitler Youth), the DAF (Deutsche Arbeitsfront or German Labor Front), RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst or State Labor Service), etc.
This is an original 85 year old 5-1/2 x 7-7/8 inch, 96-page heavily illustrated soft cover guidebook to the September 1934 Reichsparteitag that could be purchased by a visitor to Nuremberg to inform himself or herself of the reason for the Party Day, notable aspects of Nazi Party history, Nuremberg history, and a virtual minute-by-minute Programm or schedule of events for the Reichsparteitag, complete with ticket prices and important advertising.
Following a portrait of Adolf Hitler there are introductions by (and photos of) Gauleiter Julius Streicher and Willi Liebel, the Lord Mayor of Nürnberg. There is also a chapter about Pg. Rudolf Schmeer, the organizer of the 1934 Parteitag des Einheit und Stärke (Nazi Party Days of Unity and Strength) and the logistics of organizing this huge Nazi Rally.
There is a map to show the Reichsparteitag grounds and other venues as well as details about phone numbers, special trains and public transportation. There is an illustrated section showing the insignia of rank of the SA and a page explaining the striking Reichsparteitagsabzeichen for 1934 designed by Professors Richard Klein of Munich (shown on the cover and in the ad below).
In addition to NSDAP information, this Führer zum 6. Reichsparteitag der Nationalsozialistischen Deutsche Arbeiterpartei zu Nürnberg has advertising from huge German companies like Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Siemens, Mauser, TE-KA-DE, Rosenthal Porzellan, SKF & FAG bearings, Saber Radio, Zündapp and Sachs motorcycles, Triumph Werke, Addressograph-Multigraph, A.W. Faber, etc. in addition to the ads for Nazi badges, Nazi clothing, beer, hotels, Der Stürmer, the Nazi Party newspaper Völkischer Beobachter, etc.
By their very nature these kind of event guidebooks were used up and worn out over the course of the ten or so days of each Reichsparteitag. Today, good examples from any year are rare and desirable, particularly those from the formative years such as this original one from 1934.
Printed by Fr. Monninger (a company owned by Nuremberg Mayor Willy Liebel!), this 100% original 1934 guidebook to the Parteitag des Einheit und Stärke is in very good used condition, complete with the frequently missing photo portrait of Adolf Hitler in the front. No odor.
