Der Offizier der deutschen Wehrmacht (The Officer of the German Armed Forces) was written by Generalmajor Hermann Foertsch and this is a 7th edition of the book from 1942. Note the word Pflichtenlehre under the title, meaning ethical theory (a theory that suggests actions are good or bad according to a clear set of rules). A perfect explanation for this Third Reich book!
The author, Generalmajor Hermann Foertsch, held commands at the divisional, corps and army levels during World War II. He received the Knight's Cross on 27 August 1944 when his rank was Generalleutnant and he was Commander of the 21st Infantry Division.
The first page of text begins with an appropriate quote from Nazi Führer and German Reichschancellor Adolf Hitler at the 1933 Nazi Party Day regarding German soldiers. In Der Offizier der deutschen Wehrmacht, Foertsch explains what it takes to be an Officer, what is expected from German Officers, the role of an Officer in society, as a leader, an educator, a friend and an example for others. The thoughts and experiences of Officers during military service and daily life, should help leaders and educators of German Youth as well as ordinary citizens, according to Generalmajor Hermann Foertsch in his Foreword.
This 5-7/8 x 8-¼ inch, 94-page hardcover book has chapters on the personality of a leader, moral strength, spiritual strength, poise and attitude, and the duty of a German Officer to the Nation and Fatherland.
This 78 year old example of Der Offizier der deutschen Wehrmacht is in very nice condition. We doubt it was ever read. No odor.
