The Wintergarten was a luxurious theater on the busy Luitpoldstraße 3 in the old part of Nürnberg where well-known performers form Germany and abroad appeared in Varieté Shows. Upstairs in the same building owned by Oskar Speyer was a famous movie theater called Luitpold-Lichtspiele (or Lu-Li Kino) and the Königin-Bar.
Offered for sale on this USMBOOKS web page is an original 32-page example of Das neue Programm acquired at the Winter Garten in Nürnberg in 1941. It has detailed information about the performance of Der Tierbändiger van Amburgh (The Animal Tamer [Isaac] Van Amburgh), as well as the Brigitte Horny and Hans Moser films that are showing at the Lu-Li Kino and future artists and acts scheduled to perform at the Wintergarten later in 1941.
The piece of the front cover that is missing (see photo at the top of this web page) is the result of the removal of a sticker that held the program closed when it was first printed during the Third Reich. Sticker residue is visible on the back side but it does not obscure any text. The center page is loose from the others, but the historical 32-page program is in good used condition.
There is advertising by local businesses and this interesting original Third Reich entertainment program even has a page with information on what to do and how to behave during Fliegeralarm, Allied air raids!
