The Deutsche Informationsstelle or German Office of Information in Berlin was a Nazi propaganda institute specializing in translations of propaganda into various European languages. They published a series of extremely anti-British books in the same size and binding in 1940 called England ohne Maske (“England Unmasked” or “England without a Mask”). |
We have acquired several different examples in very nice condition and offer them for sale on separate USMBOOKS web pages, links are at bottom of this web page. We offer a 15% discount for the purchase of two or more England ohne Maske books at any one time. |
The rare 5-½ x 8-¼ inch, 44-page softcover Nazi book is about British Imperialism, the British role in the South African War (1899-1902) and the British atrocities during the Boer Wars there. The first chapter in England und die Buren starts with a September 1939 quote by British Prime Minister Chamberlain, “England only has one goal, and that is to protect small nations against brutal force”.
This fine 1940 example of England und die Buren bears the stamp of the Kassenleiter (Treasurer) of NSDAP Ortsgruppe St. Johannis on the cover and title page, and a library inventory number written on the front cover. St. Johannis is a section of northwest downtown Nürnberg, the City of Nazi Party Days in Julius Streicher’s Gau Franken. This book was “liberated” by an American working for the US Army in the building that was once the office of the Kassenleiter.
This 81 year old anti-British Nazi propaganda book is in very nice, little-used condition. No odor.
England und die Buren (England and the Boers) by Stefan Schroeder is book number 6 from the “England Unmasked” series, printed in 1940 by Erich Zander in Berlin.
The unflattering chapters in this book point out the brutal British behavior in their African colonies, robbing the countries of their gold, diamonds and agricultural products while treating the indigenous people horribly. British imperialism, the British role in the Boer Wars and its horrendous death toll, the bad conditions in British concentration camps where many inmates were women and children, how they robbed the Dutch in the Cape colonies, General Jan Smuts, and the Jews and farmers in South Africa. The book has many photos and illustrations of the terrible conditions and abuse of people in British concentration camps the printed on glossy paper.
