FINE ORIGINAL 54-PAGE 1937 GERMAN TIPPCO TOY CATALOG WITH THE VERY RARE 12-PAGE REICHSAUTOBAHN SUPPLEMENT

This is a fine original heavily illustrated German Tipp & Co. (Tippco) toy catalog from 1937 filled with model airplanes, zeppelins, trains, regular and Wehrmacht trucks, tanks, field kitchen trailers, Flak guns and search lights, anti-aircraft guns, camo troop transporters, fire trucks, tractors, motorcycles with and without sidecars, race cars, Reichspost busses, ambulances, roadsters, sports cars, campers, locomotives and railroad signals, even the Führer Mercedes-Benz and more.

The beautifully illustrated 9-½ x 12-½ inch catalog is in four languages (German, English, French and Italian) and has 54 pages. The special Reichsautobahn supplement (1937A) has an additional 12 pages of complete Nazi freeway layouts, parts for which could be bought as well, electrified or wind-up options available. Things like gas stations, bridges and road signs are offered.

There are over 230 beautiful illustrations, some as large as a half page! There are pictures of 24 airplanes, six zeppelins, five tracked tanks, 36 military vehicles and guns, 17 firetrucks, four steam train engines, 22 motorcycles, eight race cars, and 27 automobiles.

Founded in 1912, Tipp & Co. was world-famous for its high-quality lithographed pressed metal clockwork and electric toys manufactured in Nürnberg. By 1937 the company had expanded their line of accurate looking toys in this catalog to include camouflaged Wehrmacht military vehicles, as well as the incredible Wagen des Führers, Hitler’s gigantic Mercedes-Benz touring car (on page 44, shown left).

This rare “Printed in Germany” Tippco catalog is original in every respect, such as the light green cover embossed in the upper right corner with a nearly 3 inch tall company logo (the letters C and O on top of the letter T) as well as the printed date 1937. IT IS NOT a copy or a reproduction of any kind!

Every toy is depicted in a beautiful illustration along with its order number, size, weight and price, as well as available options. Several Junkers and Heinkel airplanes and a Bombenflieger for example, could be ordered with or without Deutscher Hoheitszeichen (swastika) markings. There are Wehrmacht Dienstauto, cannons, field kitchens, mine thrower trailers, searchlights, anti-aircraft guns, tanks, Wehrmacht motorcycles, military ambulances (the box for which when opened could be folded into a medical dressing station - shown below), Wehrmacht troop transporters with detachable anti-aircraft guns, etc.

It is interesting to note that model soldiers needed to be specified separately. Options for figures were Deutsche Soldatenfiguren, neutral figures or even English soldier figures! See red arrows on the image to the left.

All prices in this rare 86 year old Third Reich German Tippco catalog are in Reichsmarks and it is clearly stated on the first page that all prices shown are for toys without batteries are offered separately and cost an additional 3 Reichsmarks (US$ 1.20).

It is complete and the high-quality glossy pages are in wonderful condition. Original staples, no odor. Impossible to upgrade.
