EXTREMELY RARE NAZI MODEL ENTERPRISES 3-D PHOTO BOOK WITH PICTURE VIEWER 1939

One of the fine stereoscopic photos in this Raumbild book shows the employee bus of Carl Walther Waffenfabrik.

This is an excellent 100% original example of the extremely rare German Third Reich three-dimensional stero picture photo book, Die NS-Musterbetriebe 1939 (Model Nazi Enterprises 1939) with photographs bye Heinrich Hoffmann, Reichsbilderberichterstatter der NSDAP; a preface by Reichsleiter Dr. Robert Ley and prepared for publication by Hans Biallas who was assisted by Theodor Hupfauer, Professor Hoffmann and Erich Fischer. It is the rarest of three rare hardcover volumes in the NS-Musterbetriebe series, it measures 2 x 8-¼ x 11-¾ inches, has 224 pages, and is one of only 5000 published in the First Edition by Gauverlag Bayerische Ostmark in Bayreuth in 1939 in cooperation with Raumbild-Verlag KG of Munich. The book is in spectacular, like-new condition and with the 3D viewer and all 200 original Heinrich Hoffmann 3-D pictures it weighs about 4-¼ pounds.

Die NS-Musterbetriebe 1939 comes with its original metal viewer and the pictures are not faded or discolored, and we found only one picture that had a light crack across the lower left corner that does not interfere with the subject. The rest of the pictures are in excellent condition and GUARANTEED to be absolutely original authentic 84 year old historical Third Reich material. The striking linen hard cover and spine are also in splendid condition.

Most people have never even seen an actual example of this rare Third Reich stereoscopic book and this is easily the best example we have ever seen in our many decades in the Third Reich book business!

Above, Brabag or Braunkohle-Benzin AG operated from 1934 until 1945 and produced synthetic aviation fuel, diesel fuel, gasoline, and lubricants.

This book contains photographic stereo-view cards and a fold-up nickel plated deluxe metal optical device with which the cards can be viewed. If you are not familiar with this Nazi three-dimensional book, you need to know that it consists of 224 pages well-written text on the subject of National Socialist Musterbetriebe or Model Nazi Enterprises. The 200 original 3D photos that fit in five of the six cavities in the covers of the book, and all text and captions are written in the German language.

The special covers of this album are 5/8 inches thick and are die-cut on the inside with six cavities, five of which hold the 200 special 3-D stereo photographs (real photographs - NOT halftone prints) and one that holds the special nickel-plated metal viewer with glass lenses that is pulled open to view the photographs. The stereo photos each measure 2-3/8 x 5 inches and have a specific series number and a description of the subject printed on the back side in German. When seen in the viewer each picture is incredibly three-dimensional, almost as if the scene was being viewed in real life.

Selection as a Model Nazi Enterprise was the highest honor any enterprise could receive from the government in Nazi Germany. This book provides a rare insight into the 1939 Nationalsozialistischer Musterbetrieb industries, public institutions and manufacturing companies that were selected. The text explains the process by which the enterprises were selected (always including modern sanitary, well-lit and comfortable working conditions, child care, sports facilities, dining facilities, well-organized KdF trips for employees, etc.), biographical material on those that were selected, etc., etc.

This book is Volume 3 (1939), the rarest of three in the series (the years 1937 and 1938 were covered in separate books).

Some of the companies honored as 1939 National Socialist Musterbetriebe include IG Farbenindustrie AG, Messerschmitt AG, Carl Walther Waffenfabrik, Junkers Flugzeug, Bayerische Flugzeugwerke, the Bavaria-St. Pauli Brewery, Daimler-Benz Motoren GmbH, Süddeutsche Zellwolle AG, Filmkopieranstallt Dröge & Siebert, Niederrheinische Papier- und Pappenfabrik AG, Deutsche Eisenwerk AG, Nürnberger Bund Grosseinkaufsverband, Leipziger Leichtmetall Werk, Siebel Flugzeugwerke, Radium-Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft, Braunkohle-Benzin AG (a producer of synthetic gasoline!), Deutsche Linoleum Werke AG, etc. All are listed by Gau (Nazi Party District) in the Index along with the numbers of the 3D pictures that pertain.

Among the rarest of all Third Reich Raumbild books, this one is hardbound in tan linen with gold blocking on the red flag on the cover, and has a printed spine. It is complete as it was published in 1939.
