This is original tourist information for Benito Mussolini’s Roma published by ENIT, Italy’s National Tourist Office and printed in Italy. It dates to 1936 or XIV, the 14th year since the March on Rome in October 1922.

The cover panel shows the Mussolini obelisk at the entrance of the Foro Mussolini, a sports complex built between 1928 and 1938 on the north side of Rome, also the home of the Fascist Male Academy of Physical Education, the center for training the male leadership of the Fascist youth organizations, the Opera Nazionale Balilla (the female Balilla leadership academy was in the town of Orvieto in Umbria).

When unfolded, the 4-5/8 x 9-7/8 inch brochure measures 19-½ x 27-½ inches and has lots of information on Rome, its history, archeology and sights accompanied by many photos. The text is in Italian, English, German and French.

The reverse side is a color map. Of course it has tourist highlights such as the Colosseum, Villa Borghese, Piazza del Popolo and the Vatican, but also shows Villa Torlonia (the family residence of Benito Mussolini from 1925 until 1943), as well as Foro Mussolini.

This original 86 year old Fascist Italian tourist information and map of Rome is in very good, little-used condition. No writing, no tears, no taped seams and no offensive odor. Rare!
