An die Dunkelmänner unserer Zeit (To the Dark Men of our Times) by Alfred Rosenberg is subtitled “An Answer to the Attacks on “The Myth of the 20th Century”.
Der Mythus des XX. Jahrhunderts was Rosenberg’s 1930 bestseller on the racial superiority of Aryan Teutonic peoples, and of course, many people were critical of it. The very anti-Semitic book contains Rosenberg’s racial interpretation of history, concentrating on what he considered to be the negative influence of the Jewish race in contrast to the Aryan race.

The book offered here gives answers to people who criticized Rosenberg’s views in the controversial 1930 book. In the March 1935 foreword of An die Dunkelmänner unserer Zeit, Rosenberg says he was not surprised by the pushback by members of the Protestant and Catholic churches, but that he felt he was forced to write this book due to the mischaracterization of his words in ‘Myth’, the frequent personal and professional attacks by writers, anonymous hate mongers, teachers and professors.
This surprised Rosenberg as Der Mythus des XX. Jahrhunderts had provided spiritual ‘nourishment’ for millions of German people, and every new edition had a print run of 300,000! Der Mythus des XX. Jahrhunderts was second only to Mein Kampf in sales in Third Reich Germany, and Hitler awarded Rosenberg the Deutscher Nationalpreis für Kunst und Wissenschaft (German National Prize for Art and Science) for it on 30 January 1938.
This is a 19th (!) edition of An die Dunkelmänner unserer Zeit published by Hoheneichen Verlag München in 1935. The 5-¾ x 8-½ inch, 112 page flexible cover book has advertising for both “The Myth of the 20th Century” and Reichsleiter Rosenberg’s book Blut und Ehre in the back.
